Technical Indicators
There are a number of technical indicators that you can use but they can be broadly grouped into four types.
Trend Indicators
The trend indicators are based on the past trend of a currency pair. The trend indicators take the decision from your hands and give the picture of the market based on the market trend. The only decision made by a trader is to decide how much he wants to rely on them. These are the most widely used. Some popular trend indicators are Forecast Oscillator, Linear regression, MACD (Moving Average Convergence/Divergence), Moving Average Indicator, Parabolic SAR.
Volatility Indicators
Volatility indicators take range into account to study the market behavior. It is very easy to understand the dramatic changes in the behavior of the market. Some popular volatility indicators include Average True Range (ATR), Bollinger Bands (BB), Projection Oscillator, Trading Bands (Envelope), Volatility Chaikin's.
Momentum Indicators
Momentum indicators check the speed with which the market responds. It tells the overbought and oversold positions which can signal the change in the existing trend of the market. Mostly used momentum indicators include Commodity Channel Index (CCI), Chande's Momentum Oscillator (CMO), Momentum Indicator, Relative Strength Index (RSI), Stochastic Oscillator.
Volume Indicators
Volume indicators are used to confirm the trend and the buying or selling pressure in that trend direction. Commonly used volume indicators are Chaikin Money Flow, Force Index, Money Flow Index and Ease Of Movement.
